An Impregnator is a kind of sealer but the difference is that a sealer will lie on the surface of the material but an impregnator will lie just underneath the surface of the material. Impregnating sealers will not change the appearance of the sealed surface and will allow the natural colour of the treated product to shine through. Once a surface is impregnated they will become protected against water penetration by filling the microscopic pores of the material. Once an impregnating sealer has been applied to a surface such as paving slabs it becomes protected against many types of contaminants such as water or frost, salts ,oils and chemicals which eat into the surface of the paving
Impregnating sealers fill up the microscopic pores of the substrate paving stopping absorption of contaminates into these pores. The sealed surface is allowed to breathe so any internal moisture is allowed to escape.
